After years of bad reviews regarding the Marshall, finally a new person! Is it better? NOOOOO. There is no starter, but we were told to wait until our time. Group before us had been gone 15 minutes so finally we went inside and asked if we could go. Yes. So we were teeing off about 20 minutes behind the group in front. We were barely 1/2 way on the first hole and the next group was teeing off into us. The Marshall then proceeded to buzz around us for the first 9 holes, finally TIMING us, and telling us that we weren't really too slow, but we needed to keep up because the group in front was so far ahead and the group behind us was right there !!!????!!! Hello!! That's because of how your staff (ie the non starter) put us out that way!!!! FYI, we were NOT a slow group, we did NOT go into the bush looking for balls etc, but we were 4 people walking. The whole golf game was ruined because of this Marshall. It was really disconcerting. There was absolutely no reason for being buzzed for the first nine holes, being TIMED and being "talking to", the course was not full. If you want to be treated like crap drive an hour from Calgary. Beautiful course, price is right (probably because of so many years of rude staff and bad reviews). Also, Marshall told us that all golfers are timed so they can "keep control of everyone". So.... if you don't like being "controlled", and are not a professional golfer you should not golf there. The ordinary duffer apparently can't golf fast enough for their standards. Clearly the expectation was that 4 walkers on a hot day would be able to catch up to the group 20 minutes ahead of them and since we weren't able to do that, we were subject to ridiculous harassment that ruined our golf game.

Agree the course is nice, but the staff is horrible!!!!! We had company visiting and brought them to Water Valley. We arrived not the 30min before that you should, but we weren't late, our foursome apologized to the ladies in the pro shop for our tardiness, as we know that there is a tight schedule to keep things running smoothly. We were most appreciative to be accommodated and slotted into a later tee time at 11:00pm. However the manner in which we were addressed when arriving late was unprofessional and disrespectful. Our guests were not impressed with the customer service experience they received/witnessed. It left a bad impression on all of us.

The course is fine but the attitude of the staff was horrible. I gather that unless you are a member, it is understood that you are a second class citizen.

I would highly suggest that people do not play at this course. Go somewhere where you come away feeling good

Love the course, hate their attitude towards their paying customers. We booked a foursome and 3 of us walked. The fourth in our group took a power cart because of a medical issue and because there was no second rider they doubled her cart fee, so basically she paid as if there were two people using the cart. If they filled the foursome and had one person riding they are still making money so why they feel a need to alienate their patrons is beyond me. I've been playing golf for over 25 years and I can't think of any respectable course that treats patrons this way. I used to play here several times a year but their poor customer practices and general attitude have turned me off so now I only play here if one of my friends books it. Lots of other choices out there.

That being said, the ladies in the drink shacks and our server in the clubhouse were are quite pleasant.

Golf course is in a beautiful setting. Most of the greens (except 4) are in great shape and putt true. Fairways are in exceptional condition. This was our second visit in as many years. Last year we had experienced a rude staff member. We wrote it to ‘everybody is entitled to have a bad day’ teed off and enjoyed our round... This year our experience (with the same lady) was much much worse. We were unaware that there was a members shot gun golf tournament on going and not all the groups had passed the first hole. When we checked in she did not tell us that there would be a delay. In fact we did not receive any notice or instructions whatsoever (i.e. Wait for the starter to call you to first tee, tournament delay; you will be playing with…, etc). After warming up, a few minutes before our tee time and not hearing any starter instructions at all, for anyone, we proceeded to the vacant first tee. We assumed they did not have a starter which is not uncommon for a small town golf course. We were approached by the same lady who checked before we even reached the first tee. She proceeded to verbally assault us for attempting to golf. Chastising us for attempting to interrupt their golf tournament. My wife and I were speechless at to what was happening. We could not believe what had just happened. To make the situation even worse, has she was walking back we saw her stop and talk to a group of golfers, we assume they were members. We don`t know what she was said to them, however, we assume the conversation was about us as the group seemed to all stare at us in unison. Definitely the most humiliating golf experience we have had without even striking the ball.

Had a fantastic round of golf! The course was beautiful and the grass was in great shape. The course is a bit of a trek, but definitely walkable.

Not sure about all the complaints about the staff, they were very friendly to us. Would definitely recommend this course to others and will be back again.

The course itself isn't too bad, but the staff are rude. It really soured our experience. Also very expensive for what you get.

First off, one in our group is diabetic and carries a small lunch bag with his "gear" in it. We were confronted instantly and accused of bringing beer with us. No apology when he opened the bag...

There are 2 temporary greens, so you are given (if you're lucky) a coupon for a discount on you next round, which must be played within roughly 2 weeks. 2 in our group weren't even given this coupon...

We played behind a group of older ladies, who are members. We asked the marshal if we could play through as they were very slow and quite obviously behind. We were told tersely, no.

We are mid forties, low handicappers who were basically treated like children. We will not be going back.

Great course. Awesome layout. Not very impressed with some of the service. Older female Marshall needs some training.

We were the second foursome out on a Saturday. The foursome infront of us were all members and played very fast.

After 6 holes the marshall told us to pick up the pace as we were falling behind. I told her we weren't slow, that the foursome in front was very fast. We were well ahead of the group behind us. She told us that didn't matter, what mattered was we couldn't see the guys in front. She was actually quite rude about it.

We finished our round in 3.5 hours. Hardly slow.

Great course, not impressed with lack of customer service. could not hit balls after arriving an hour early due to " balls being picked up right now". Suggested we have a beer on patio! Thanks but I prefer to warm up before golf and drink beer after.

Don't like to be rushed; hence early arrival but was rushed due to pro shop policy of not being able to pay until a cart was available. Cart became available 12 min. before tee off, barely able to pay and get clubs situated on carts then off to #1 tee off IN A RUSH!
